The intragastric balloon is a non-surgical bariatric procedure approve by the FDA on 2015 and involves placing via endoscopy a balloon filling it with 500cc to decrees the amount of gastric space. The balloon can be left 6 to 8 months and results on an average weight loss of 5 to 9 BMI points over half a year.

The intragastric balloon may be used prior to another bariatric surgery in order to assist the patient to reach a weight which is suitable for surgery, further it can also be used on several occasions if necessary.

The procedure takes about 30min on the operation room it is done by sedition anesthesia, placing the balloon with a blue fluid, after the event the patient remains on recovery for 30mins before heading to a private room with Tv, Air-conditioned, Restroom. Patient will stay for 6hrs total in the hospital which is consider and ambulatory procedure.

  2. Non-Surgical  – this is no considered a surgery is a bariatric procedure without general anesthesia or surgical wounds.
  3. Weight Loss Success   – a Rapid weight loss, depending on the stating weight usually experiencing 6 to 8 BMI points within 6 to 8 months.
  4. Restriction – The stomach size is limited to half of size, living less room to overeat resulting to a good restriction method.
